Hi all. I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 hemi I've owned it from new. Has 43000 miles and has recently started to not engage/disengage from 2wd to 4wd and also in 4wd makes a loud whirring noise whilst driving which sounds like it is coming from the front left wheel area. I've taken it to the garage and they seem to think its to do with the transfer case, being that I'm in England there quoting around £1500.00 to rebuild the transfer case which seems very steep and may not even be the problem. Has anyone else had the same or any suggestions as to what it could be.
