I am moving to Dubai UAE this coming march and wanted to know some info on maintenence.

I have a 2006 Ram 1500 4x4. 82k miles

Is there anything that I should have checked, inspected, replaced before I leave? They do have a dodge dealer but just trying to be proactive as I am not sure on parts availability etc.

I am looking at getting a CAI, what are the downsides of getting an aftermarket no name on ebay for half the price?

 

One other thing, I need new tires as they have to be within 4 years old and mine are 5. I have 20" rims what tires would you recommend for the desert and running in sand dunes?

 

For tires. I would have to say Dune Grapplers since they are made for sand. Not sure though but there is a member here that's in Jordan so I would look him up (I think his name is Adventurer or something like that). As for the CAI, I have an ebay one right now since my homemade one fell apart on me. But I would look at Ewings DIY CAI and go with that. It'll be as cheap and better than any ebay one. It comes down to the filter really though so I would get a K&N filter regardless of which route you take.

 

Before you buy tires, you really need to check what, if any, mph, requirements there are. I know that vehicles coming from the states to Germany have to be fitted with higher speed rated tires and brakes, but don't know about Dubai.
