My 06 ram 1500 tranny seems to hesitate (slip) at initial start up after sitting for around 8 hours. It seems like it is draining down. I have changed fluid and both filters which have not made any difference. What kind of problems could I be facing?

 

You are right. I have a 2007 and it does the same thing. When it sits for awhile the tranny fluid actually does settle. When you start back up you have to wait for the pressure to build back up. I usually start my truck and rev it slightly for a few seconds and it's good to go.

 

My 2006 does it too. I think there is a check valve in one of the hoses going to the trans cooler. Don't know if that is the problem or not.

 

My 06 did it last winter. Some how it didn't do it this winter.

 

my 06 night runner (HEMI) version, does the exact same thing, after about 30 seconds of idle its ready to GO! i would like to know how to fix it though

 

It sounds like the torque converter is draining back into the pan after its been sitting for a while. But with so many people reporting this problem I would think there would be a TSB somewhere...

 

Not so sure about the check valve thing after researching our trannies. There was an issue with the spin on filters in the trans allowing drain back.
