Need a little more info. Factory tow package? Gear ratio? Looking to tow a boat, rv, cargo trailer? Do you have 20" wheels or 17's?

I have the factory tow package and always use a properly setup weight distrubution hitch and have towed 30' rv's with mine since it was new. The tow rating is probably a tad bit higher but i try to stay below 7500lbs and am usually around 6800-7200.

Just some information for this thread: I hauled a 1991 VW GTI up to Witchita, Kansas yesterday along with assorted engine parts, a (heavy) tub of old special tools, doors, and other parts with my 2007 Big Horn 5.7L.

The 14.5mpg the trip computer reported, along with the truck's performance in Tow Mode, was more than respectable.

Total weight of the truck, trailer, and scrap: 10,240lbs.
Total weight of the truck and trailer: 7,260lbs.
Total weight of the scrap: 2,980lbs.

The next load I haul will be heavier.

--->8550Lbs.
http://dodgeram.info/2004/towing-charts.html <--2004 has same ratings

I tow 4,000lb Caddy's on my 1900lb Car trailer. Truck is a champ. Never had a problem.
A 5,000lb Fullsize Van was very noticeable and a bit rough. It's height(wind and balance) and off center weight made it a hard pull.
Anything over 4,000lbs and I can really start to feel the weight.

I have a 2008 1500 QC 5.7L 3:92's w/33" rubber and airbags out back.

That's a valid point, but sometimes it helps to hear from people's real world experiences.
