Talking 2007 Ram 1500 Shock Upgrade

Hello Gents, I'm new to the forum, but I've been a guest for several months now and I respect most of what I've read.
So now its my turn to ask a question. I'm in the market for new shocks for the truck but I want equipment that will more readily handle the rigors of faster paced off-road driving. My truck is my DD and its only leveled, no lift, so I don't need anything extreme, but I want an improvement over stock.
Its a 2007 Ram 1500 TRX-4 with a HEMI and a 6 speed manual.
Ive got the FOX 2.0 Factory series shocks in mind, but I'm torn between getting rear shocks with reservoirs or not. I understand the benefits of a reservoir, but just not sold on the extra cost. I only get out to play about once a month...
The front coils seem solid, but if Im going to replace shocks, those might as well get upgraded too, right? Or could I get a better-than-stock shock that uses the factory coil? Oh, and since I'm asking, is the TRX-4 coil stiffer than the other Ram packages? For some reason I remember reading that somewhere... The tires, shocks, brakes, and a slight lift is what changed for the off-road package...

Anyway, any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

I've looked into this before also for my 07' 1500. I put the Bilstein level struts on my truck and didn't notice a huge difference other than my stock shocks were completely blown out. In the future I want to upgrade all 4 corners to the FOX 2.0 rears and the coilover fronts.

I've seen the coilovers online for ~380-400 a piece (so ~800 for the front pair) and the rear shocks on Ebay for about ~230. Seems like a good shock for light weekend pre-running and will be a much better damper over stock, or even the Bilsteins.

The F.O.A. rear reservoir shocks are fairly cheap too (for a reservoir shock anyway). They're about ~145 a piece for the 10" stroke version and are fully rebuildable.

If the TRX-4 springs are stiffer than the others thats a plus but for any type of aggressive driving off-road I feel like the stock springs are just too soft. I don't know of any other companies other than FOX that make replacement upgrade springs. I wish KORE made a progressive spring for our trucks that was slightly stiffer. Or even a reservoir version of the FOX coilover body to get some more damping control.

I bought the Bilsteins and got them from 4 Wheel Parts yesterday. The set was $420 out the door. I'm gonna give them a go and if in a year or so I want the 2.0's, so be it. I've been considering a lift anyway, so Ill probably go ahead and do a 4" lift, upgrade the shocks to the 2.0s, and replace the rear diff with either a limited slip or a locker, although I'm not a fan of having to lock an open diff every time I want to drive up something that's steep...

I was really hoping to hear that the Bilsteins rode better than stock, but oh well. I'm sure they're better than the worn out shocks Im ridin on now.
