Default overheating please help

First off want to say hello to all. just found this site, a lot of great info here. Been searching for about a week now and I'm at a loss here. I have a 05 1500 QC 4x4 . The water pump went, had it fixed was fine for a week then started to run hot. Changed the T stat twice only could find a 195 new hoses drained and filled. I jacked it up let run with cap off for like an hour. oh yeah i even got a new cap. heater on high ( heat kicks a$$) temp gauge right in the middle. When I put the cap on and go for a ride around the block it gets hot. If anyone have a clue please help. And the clutch fan kick on. Thanks

Sounds like the fan clutch is bad. How does it perform on the highway?

well haven't got out in it on the highway yet since this happened. It has a 4.7 in it and don't want to get it to hot . How often should the fan spin up or kick on whatever it does? And every time i take the cap off it low and the bottle is full.

The fan should run pretty much constantly at low speeds. It drops off when the cooling through the radiator from forward motion is sufficient (30 mph or so).

Sure you got all the air out of the system?

Maybe It needs a new radiator. Run it for a bit until you notice it getting hot but not too hot, just a bit above normal, then feel the radiator all over to see if there are any cool spots in it. Be careful no to burn yourself, if there are some cool spots you might be able to get away with just flushing the radiator.

Hey thanks to all of you. engine is a 4.7 and it didn't get to hot when the water pump went. I was in my driveway when that happened. As for cold spots in the radiator I had it running for about an hour with cap off never got above half way, put the cap on got about 3/4 or more to hot. Shut it down felt the radiator all over only hot spots on it were on the sides whole middle was cold. is that normal?

I think the whole thing should be pretty hot all over it, if the middle is cold it might be clogged. If you dont wanna buy a new one you might be able to flush it by disconnecting both hoses and running hose water through it in the reverse direction, then forward, reverse again etc. If its too clogged a replacement radiator might be your best option, these 4.7's dont like to get hot.

Default Overheating Issues

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 5.7L. My truck overheats only when I back my boat up. I noticed a gurgling sound coming from under the hood. A while back I was at a stop light and noticed my truck was overheating so I pulled over to let it cool off. I then decided to put some stop sealant in the radiator and never had the problem again. Should I replace my radiator? I'm at a loss. Please help. Thanks
