I know when I drive in tow/haul mode,no matter how fast I'm going it will not go into overdrive. Any vehicle I have owned did that.

Question is, how many times are you hitting the button? See below which also can be found in the owners manual on page 309. Link to owners manual below as well.

http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/owners/manuals/

When driving in hilly areas, towing a trailer, carrying a
heavy load, etc., and frequent transmission shifting occurs,
press the “TOW HAUL O/D OFF” button once to
select TOW HAUL. This will improve performance and
reduce the potential for transmission overheating or
failure due to excessive shifting. When operating in
“TOW HAUL” mode, 5th gear (if equipped) is disabled
and 2-3 and 3-4 shift patterns are modified. Shifts into
Overdrive (4th gear) are allowed during steady cruise
(for improved fuel economy) and automatic closedthrottle
downshifts to 3rd gear are performed (for improved
braking) when driving conditions warrant. Pressing
the “TOW HAUL O/D OFF” button a second time to
select O/D OFF will disable 4th and 5th gear completely,
which should eliminate any excessive transmission shifting.

im hitting the buttom twice, that would explain why it only does 3 gears! thank you DodgeCares, but so whats the point of being able to turn the tow mode and OD drive off?

Many times it is desirable to have both off when climbing long steep grades, especially when towing.
