Default Possible 4.7 swap?

Ok, so I have a 2008 Ram 1500 Lone Star Edition with the 4.7 2wd set up. I love my truck to death and I plan on driving this truck into the ground, build it up, and repeat. Now I have been playing with the idea of instead of getting a new truck, use the money to rip out the 4.7, drop a 5.7 Hemi in it, swap the front 2wd axle set up with a solid axle (you'll see why next), swap the transmission with the 4x4 capable, brand new transfer case, and throw in a dual exhaust kit. I know that it'll be a pricey endeavor, but like I said, I absolutely love my Ram and I can't bear the idea of not having a project. If there is anyone that has done the same to their 4.7 or similar and has some input, it'd be greatly appreciated!

i have toyed with this idea on my truck for some time as well. I have helped to make several trucks 4wd from 2wd. I have found it is a bit easier when messing with electronics and this style of swap if and only if the trans mates up to the motor with no issues then to use a divorced transfer case set up. yes, you have to have a bit longer skid plate and a short stub shaft to equate for. but this is cheaper than a transmission.

*note this is all predicated on you doing the work yourself not a shop.

Yeah, I was thinking since the transmissions are the same in the 4.7 and the 5.7, It wouldn't be all too difficult to swap and just replace the tail end of the transmission that is already in the truck. I was also wanting the go the extra mile and see if I could have the button on the dash to switch into 4wd.

personally i have never liked the electronic shift transfer case. there is just something kinda cool about seeing a shifter sticking up through the floor. As well the mechanical shifter linkage opens you up to many many transfer cases, allowing you to find the strongest and deepest gearing that fits in your budget.

I have a similiar question. I have an 06 dodge ram 1500 SLT 4x4 with a 4.7. I would love to swap it with a hemi. My question is what would I all need and about how much would it cost.

To the OP, if you want to swap to a SFA then I would suggest seeing if you cold find a Hemi from a 2500 4x4 with the tranny. Might make things easier since the tranny and trans case is already set up for SFA. It might make a little less of a headache. I too plan to one day swap in a SFA into my 2wd so I would love to see how this project pans out. If you go through with it can you please post pics and prices so i can get an idea in my head of how much to save up? Lol
