Question 2002 Ram 1500 4.7L growling noise when braking

I just got a used 2002 Ram 1500 4.7L that has a growling noise coming from the rear when slowly rolling or when braking and almost at a full stop. I don't know if this has anything to do with that issue but the emergency brake lever doesn't come up all the way when I pull the brake release handle, I have to pull it up while pulling the handle at the same time for it to register as being fully up. If I don't pull it up my truck still thinks the brake is on. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the e-brake is dragging.... you might need to take it apart and rebuild it.... not a fun job...

Have you checked your rear brakes yet? As for your e brake jack up the rear of your truck put in neutral and try to turn you rear wheels by hand if they are vary hard to turn or you can not turn them then your e brake is sticking. if you wheels seem to turn fine you could just have a weak return spring on your e break pedel.

Did you ever figure out the problem? I'm having the same issue. My emergency brake isn't sticking.

Didn't say it was "hard" just said it's not "fun".... I hate doing e-brakes, too many little parts and adjustments to make... gets tedious.

The linings may have rusted and fallen off of the shoes. You are going to find out that your disc has a drum built into it for parking brakes.

Default HELP! gridning/scrapping while braking

2002 Ram 1500, 4.7, 2-WD

when braking at low speeds my front brakes sound and feel like they are scrapping..feels like ABS kicking in, roads are dry.

I just replaced my pads with ceramic pads, and new rotors.

Any suggestions??

Your help is apprecaited.

That's common with Ceramic Pads and Worn Rotors... did you check your rotors for gouges or other typical wear?

You might have also glazed the ceramic pads if you didn't seat them properly.
