Forced Air Coming In After Evap Coil Replacement
My 2008 Dodge Ram 5.7L had a bad A/C evaporator coil. (Thank God for extended warranties!) After the dealer replaced it, I am getting air coming in where the dash meets the windshield on the passenger side in the corner. The faster you go, the more air comes in and the louder the annoying wind noise that goes along with it gets!
I took it back to the dealer this morning and explained what was going on. I get a call this afternoon that my "noise" was a strip along the outside of my windshield. I said, OK, so where is the WIND that's blowing INSIDE my truck in that area coming from?
Somehow, the fact that I have both NOISE and WIND was lost on the Service Department Manager and the tech I explained all that to this morning.
After doing some research I think that when the dealer reinstalled my dash, something with the recirculator door went funky. Prior to them replacing the A/C Evap Coil, I had no such problem. Am I on the right track? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would guess you lost your recirc door. You'll probably not get far in proving the dealer was responsible. I'm wondering why they didn't suggest servicing the HVAC while it was all apart, as that is a very common problem with these trucks, and the hardest part to the job is what they already did!!
You are absolutely correct! When the system is off (the recirc door should be closed, but it is not, not completely) you get the whistle and air coming in between the dash and windshield in the corner on the passenger side. When you switch to recirculate, you can hear the door attempt to close, but it doesn't close completely and you get the whistle.
When I picked the truck up, yesterday, I knew they hadn't resolved the issue. I called them back up this morning, told them the problem, that it had to have happened when they took out the dash to fix the evaporator coil, how to access the recirculator door, and what I expected them to do to fix it at no charge to me. Either they broke the door in R&R of the dash or they somehow bound it up to where it will open but not seal closed. The truck has been in the shop so regularly that they all know this was not an issue until the dash was removed and replaced.
Thus far, they've done a tune up, new alternator, evaporator coil, repaired existing damage to the driver's seat, replaced the grill, and got me a new jack (mine was missing.) All done on different visits because for whatever reason they couldn't schedule it all at the same time. On the plus side, they give me something to drive every time I take it in (that's rare these days.) On the minus side, I'm so sick of having to deal with all this.

Kjclark,
Will you be bringing the vehicle back to the dealership for further inspection? If you need assistance or have any questions feel free to PM your VIN# and the name of your servicing dealer and I'd be happy to review this further with you.

Yes. Taking it back in this morning. Hopefully they will get it straightened out today. Will follow up 2moro. Just like going to the doctor.... you gotta tell them EXACTLY what's wrong and what you want done to fix it.... lol. They're good folks though. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

I call this afternoon to see how things are going and I'm told they checked it and no whistle. SERIOUSLY?! I told them to recheck it because it does it and my patience of the last 2 months has run out. Even gave the guy detailed instructions on how to check it..... totally disgusted at this point!!!! So disgusted that I called my salesman and put him on it. What ever happened to 5-Star service?! Geez!!!!

I'll move your post to correct 3rd gen ram section.
