You still never told anyone what engine you have, and thusly, we don't know that transmission you have.

But if you want to spend a good amount of money on a trans you never have to worry about again minus routine work, get a PATC trans.

We still need to know which Engine you have, as that will dictate your options.

well then have it looked at by a professional so you can find out if it is just the clutches that are worn out in there.... That will save you much more $ than replacing the trans.

What year is it from?

And remember, you get what you pay for.

If it is already out of the other truck then all you can do is check the fluid and ask for a warranty of some kind. If you are getting it from a junk yard they should offer you a 30 day warranty.

+1 on what Cuda said.

If you pull the dip stick and smell it, if it smells like the most horrible rotten eggs you've ever smelled then it's likely been sitting awhile or never had it's fluid changed...

Other than that the only way to know for sure is to flush it with like 3-4 quarts of trans fluid and see what comes out of it, but the true test will only be when it is on the truck and running.
