Ok, my next project is putting a 2005 5.7 hemi into my 1997 bmw 528i.. I'm going auto tranny because the car is auto.. 1st question: what mopar tranny will bolt up and work to this hemi?... Question 2: is the hemi computer still obd2?
The Hemi trans is the 545RFE. I don't think the Durangos got the 545 until later. The 545 is a 5 speed auto, whereas the 45RFE which came behind most 4.7L V8s is a 4 speed auto.
Question 1: answered
Question 2: answered
I have a bad tranny from my 2000 Durango 4.7l that I will have rebuilt and this will be the tranny.

That 45RFE from the 4.7 and any hemi 545RFE are the same transmission, programming is the only real difference. It depends on which PCM you intend to use. If you use the 05 PCM then it will be a 545 and you'll have the double OD. Put a better torque converter in it than the stock one.

I've read the same, however I've also read that the 545 actually has an additional set of clutches in it.
