looking to add higher gears to 04 ram 1500 4x4

going from 3.55 to 4.56 with my 35in tires is the best mod ive done so far. If you do any kind of towing or drive in the mountains, the difference is night and day. +1 on the search function, there are alot of threads on this subject.

Yeah, its going to cost you about that for any decent shop. And you don't want a crappy shop messing up your gears.

Ditto that. You're probably looking at $600 or so for each axle. I'd like to put 4.10s in mine, but can't justify the expense. It jumps well enough and get ~15 mpg at 80 mph.

Hey, at least you're 2WD. Us 4x4 guys have to drop that for front and rear.
