How long should the stub shafts and axle last
Had new stub shafts and axles replaced Jan 2012 and now my passenger side is on its way out (starting to hear clunking noise when turning right above 25mph) Both sides have the same amount of play on the can that connects to the stub output. And to me it seems loose.
Just wondering how long or how often you guys are replacing these? I've maybe gotten 50,000 kms out of em and thats being generous. its probably closer to 40. With very little 4x4 use not that it matters much cuz they're both spinning all the time anyways.
I'm not going to pay 1400 to replace them, i'm gonna do it myself, i've ordered the majority of the parts already just need to find seals and bearings, rockauto seems like my best bet so far, but why is everyone so keen on not removing the cover on their diff. So what if you have to deal with a bit of fluid, from what i've read its makes things alot easier trying to remove the clip.
Also could someone explain the install process do i need to slide the bearing and seal onto the shaft and then install or slide those over the shaft once the shaft is sitting in the pumpkin.
