Default External regulator wiring question

I have an 05 1500 with 5.7 that the voltage regulator in the PCM has taken a dump, and I'm trying not to have to shell out a few hundred bux for a new one.
I saw a thread here on the forum converting an older gen truck, and the wiring in my alt. is different.I have a 2 wire sensor plug on mine, and not sure if the fields connections are the same or different.Don't want to fry something and make things worse.
I've tried to figure it out with the wiring diagrams, but automotive electric isn't my strong suit at all.

Here's the thread showing the older gen, conversion:

Does anyone here know if I can wire my gen 3 truck the same way?

Got my answer over in the Gen 2 category, where the regulator conversion thread was.
Now if I can figure out why the A/C compressor won't come on I'll bee 100%.It quit working same time the charging system did,not sure if the problem is in the PCM as well.

At least I';m mobile again.
