I bought my truck new in 07...... at about 120,000 miles the EGRvalve went bad or was clogged with too much carbon regardless the engine light came on I changed it myself no problem. Now I have 150,000 miles on my truck and its throwing a code for the EGR valve again I don’t understand how the original one lasted so long and this one only lasted a year or so I wasn't sure if you can just get one that was not as good for some reason I purchased it at a parts store instead of the dealer didn’t think that should matter or is there something before the EGR valve I could clean or replace to keep it from going bad again so quickly? Thanks Rotdog
The EGR valve on my 05 Ram first went out at 44K miles the second one at 135K,I now have 263K on it and still going.First one I bought from the dealership the second EGR valve I got from Advance Auto Parts.
I guess I will just keep changing it for $30 to $40 bucks hopefully this one last longer I dont mind the engine light on however I want it to come on if there is another issue and that is not possible if its on all the time cause of my EGR valve
Mine went our about 1k after they replaced my motor... Getting ready to replace it soon in fact I have it in the back seat. I hear it is a PITA on a 4.7. Thoughts?
Though some time had elapsed between replacements due to being separated by a continent and a few large bodies of water for a while, mileage-wise I think I only got about 20K-30K out of my EGR valve the second time around, as well.
