2005 Ram 2500 Quad/hemi
I had a 2001 Dodge 2500 Diesel for 12 years and a guy just made me an offer on it that I couldn't pass up so I am in the market for a different pickup. I found an 05 ram 2500 quad with a Hemi and a 5 speed manual. What are the rear ends that can come with that and what would I expect for gas mileage? I wont be pulling much with it maybe a midsized camper someday. Are they a pretty good outfit or should I continue to look.
A 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with Hemi would have either a 3.73 or 4.10 axle ratio. Its a 10.5 axle with higher weight limits than the 9.25 in the 1500. I get maybe 16-17 mpg highway and 9-10 towing. You get a better tow rating with the 4.10 axle ratio if you can find one.
I have bad news for you.

and that, my good sir, is when my truck looked like this:

as opposed to, well, this:

I got 13mpg highway at around 75-80mph the other week, but city, I'm looking at single digits.

ejendelhaupt,
Since vans, pickup trucks and SUV's weighing more than 8500 pounds gross vehicle weight are classified as heavy-duty vehicles, fuel economy regulations do not apply. These vehicles are not tested and fuel economy labels are not posted on the window sticker.
The actual mileage you can expect depends on the individual driving habits of the person using the vehicle, the conditions under which it is driven and the vehicle’s mechanical condition.
The 2005 2500 rear ends available are 3.73 and 4.10, check out the website I've added, you can get a lot of information regarding the vehicle specs after narrowing down some of the vehicle options.
