Default Check Engine Light W/ Codes Help

I am looking for help reading the codes displayed on the dash when doing the hold Trip Meter Reset while turning the key on method. I am getting three codes but they don't make sense as they don't have proper formatting. The codes are 5---127, i---285, C---447; the dashes represent space in between characters and the i is not really an i but is the best representation of what I see except without the dot above it. I have the factory service manual and none of these codes show up in the DTC list. Any ideas?

The check engine light turned off today after driving about 15 miles and hasn't come back on. I do still have the same codes but haven't done a reset yet and don't plan to for a bit; I want to find out what they are for first.

Next time your light comes on just stop by an O'Reillys or autozone and have them read the codes.

The Scantools, OBD II Readers, and Programmers Thread

Check out that sticky in the Second Gen Non-Tech forum. It is possible to have one's own inexpensive (under $100) code reader, plus it saves the time and hassle of going to your FLAPS.

What you have done is read the C-Codes... those indicate electrical problems.

You can match them up with a list of master codes, you can search Google for them as I can't post the link here for some reason.

If you want to get the DTCs then you need to use the other key method to pull them....

Click the link at the bottom of my signature for instructions.
