trailer brakes

Question trailer brakes

i have a 2006 ram 1500 and i need to know if i buy a trailer brake controller. what do i all need to do to connect it to get it to work. is it just a plug in and go kinda thing since i have the trailer brake plug-in on the truck already. or is there some wire cutting and connecting i need to do also?

Look near the parking brake. There may be a blue connector rolled up an' ready. How much trailer?

If you don't have a big round plug in the bumper you'll need to get a harness. There are a few options and I recommend you get the harness that has the jack for the brake controller to hook into the battery, foot pedal, etc. You might need a breaker for the harness as well, I don't recall if it comes with one.
