Default lack of power

Please help, I have an 03 ram 2500 with a 5.7 Hemi. I recently purchased the truck after sitting for over a year and it has no *****, while driving along if I slow down and then go to speed up it takes a bit for it to get up to speed, I'm just wondering if the cat could be clogged because when I do give it gas it makes like a flapping sound. Please help with your suggestions because I thought it would be a great truck to pull my camper but with no power it sucks. Thanks

It says you posted in the wrong section. Your truck should always be in 3rd Gen.

As for you problems. I am not sure what you mean by flapping sound. I assume you are not running on fuel that has been in the tank for a year. How many miles are on it when was the last maintenance done. At the very least oil change is needed after sitting for a year. A fuel treatment would probably be advised.

Also, you may want to look at changing the spark plugs if you don't know their condition or age.

The truck has 110k and it had 1/4 tank of gas in it so I filled it with fresh gas. It's hard to explain the flapping sound coming out of the tailpipe it's just when I give it the gas it makes loud noise. I'm just thinking the cat is clogged with rust and carbon from sitting too long. Would old plugs really not give the truck any power? I just think something is clogged because I'll be driving 40 mph down the road and I'll give it a little gas and the exhaust gets loud but the truck doesn't move. When I start from a dead stop should I really have to go 2500 rpms to get going? Something's just not right and I power so I can tow my camper.

I would check the air filter.

Its possible, you could pressure check them. Have you driven other Dodge Rams in the 03-05 range so you know what to expect.

If you don't know the history of it, as advised above, I would start with changing the air filter, oil and filter, plugs, and cleaning the throttle body. Fuel system treatment and maybe sea foam to clean it up. I don't see how sitting would clog up the cats, but possibly clogged before it was parked or partially clogged. No codes?
