Did I get a good deal??? New Dodge owner
First post here.
I just bought a white 05 QC 4x4 SLT Hemi, big horn package and few other options.
MSRP was $36,005.
-Employee Discount ($30,765)
-$3500 Rebate
-$1000 Chrysler Finance(6.59%, will refinance that soon enough)
-$1000 Dealer Discount
I got it for $25,265 with 2 additional gas fillups, and 20 free oil and filter changes. They also gave me $250 over KBB on my trade in.
I am a little worried I didn't get a good deal because everything I asked for they said no problem. No negoticating, nothing!! So I don't feel like I got a good deal. Is this a good price. Also I have never owned anything but Fords, so hopefully I am welcome over here on the darkside.

You got a damn good deal!!! I have a Deep Molten Red 2005 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 1500 SLT HEMI Big Horn 2WD. I bought it back in June. MSRP was $26990. With the Customer Preferred Package 26G, it came out to $32115. After tax, license, service contract, trade-in ( an '88 Ramcharger with 135,000 miles. They gave me $1300 for it!!! And, I got to keep my stereo!!! ), and a manufacturer/dealer rebate of $5500, my truck came out to just a tick under $26000. A buddy of mine just bought a "loaded" 2005 Ford F-150. It's a 4X4 with leather and sunroof, but not much else, besides the usual bells and whistles. He said he got a "great deal", paying $33000 out the door. Whatever. I'll do 10 donuts around his "truck" before he reaches 50MPH!!! WELCOME TO THE DARKSIDE!!! SWEET!!!
dealers love KBB, I have found that we are able to get more @ auction than what the trade-in lists 80% of the time.
What was your trade-in anyway, just curious.
And by the way, if the dealer still had 05's on the lot, I am sure they are willing to do whatever to make them disappear since the 06's have already started to arrive and they need to clear inventories to make room.

Ummmm, calling BS on that one. We just recently bought our truck and my wife is scared to death of the fuel mileage so we went to trade it in on a Mitsubishi or Saturn. Both offered 14k for the truck with it KBB'ing at 20k!! Guess it says dumba$$ across my forehead. They are claiming with all the rebates and discounts on trucks plus fuel costs, they don't want them and can't sell them. Yadda, yadda, "actual cash value of the truck", bs, bs. I just turned and walked out. Whatever!!.....
What really funny is Kia offered 18500 and said that what KBB says for trade-in. I got my laptop with wireless access out of the truck and showed them 20k. While he stood there stammering, we left. Thank GOD! It's her truck and her decision but a 1500 Quad Cab for a Kia.......it's just embarassing.
Of course, I see their point. It would be nice to get 20k for a truck I paid 18k for!!

You got a good deal. Basically got the same as I did, exact same truck (except mine is black). I landed mine for right at 28k, when it had MSRP of about $36,500. Bought mine in July, so it was when factory rebate was only $3,000. I didn't finance, so I didn't get the $1,000 for finance, and they didn't have a $1,000 dealer discount. I tried the haggle, but didn't get anywhere. It's kinda hard to argue with someone when they are giving you a price that is $8,500 less than MSRP. I did get a good deal on a couple of accessories I had the dealer put on for me (bedliner and bug shield).
So if you take my $28k and subtract the extra rebates/discounts that you got at the time you purchased compared to me, you get about the price you paid ($25,500 or so).
Congratulations on the new truck.

Cool, I guess I got a good deal then. I really wanted a Ford and just went to the Dodge guys to get some info for barganing. Then when I saw what I could get for the money I ended up getting the Dodge. Here were the pluses is my book versus the Ford
+more interior room
+more horses
+6.25' bed vs 5.5'
+ about $3500 cheaper than a similar equipped F150
+ 7/70,000 powertrain warranty vs 3/36,000 on the Ford
The only minus I am seeing that Dodges get thirsty.
Viperforsale: My trade-in was a 2001 Mercury Cougar with 80,000 miles on it. They said they would give me $5000 for it but when they checked closer they found the broken sunroof so only gave me $4500 for it. I looked into getting the sunroof fixed but you can only replace the whole assembly and it cost $1500 with the labor, stupid design. Anyway KBB was $4300 and I $4500 for it with the issues it had.
So does everybody always get the question "Does that thing got a HEMI in it?"

I bought an 04 solar yellow 4x2 hemi SLT trim, for $27K back in feb. sticker price was 33,900, dealer price was 27500, i left work that night with a brand new truck for 500 under dealer invoice. so i think u got one hell of a good deal
Yes, In fact today I drove my truck and I once again got asked the "question", it happens everytime I drive it, LOL.
So in fact KBB gave you a $4300 figure and you got $4500 but were going to get $5000 for it originally until they found the sunroof issue... see this is what I am talking about, if they were going to go by KBB, they would have originally gotten an extra $800 or more from you, most people thinking that it is accurate, which it isnt... for the most part. Truck values are down right now on the whole because they suck gas like there is no tomorrow, but smaller cars, especially imports with gas-sipping 4 bangers we can steal at the KBB value. Plus another issue with KBB is that EVERYBODY thinks their vehicle is in excellent condition, but 9 times outta 10 they arent.
And as for your claim of BS there stump-breaker, you busted your own ***** on that one, take a look at what you found out for yourself, there are buttloads of rebates and incentives for the trucks right now, its easier to buy a new one than it is for them to sell an old one, and like I said before they just arent selling well at the auctions, so as far as trucks go KBB isnt a good indicator as to what your truck is worth, which IS far less than what is listed by KBB. As long as gas is high, get used to your truck not holding its value.
