Default Broken Leaf Springs on 2003 Ram 1500

I have a 2003 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with a 4.7l engine. I usually pull a trailer few times a month and last week I loaded the box full of rocks. What I didn't know was how heavy that was, because when I checked the rear suspension I broke 1 leaf on each side of the rear suspension. What can I do ?

Do I have to buy the whole set of leaf springs for each side ?

Maybe there are less expensive leaf springs ?

I will appriciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

1 question for you, did you not think that the truck was overloaded when it was sitting on its axle and the back of your truck looked like it was the winner at a low-rider competition?

You will have to buy a new set of springs, if one or more of the leafs has broken due to overload, you will have stressed the rest of the springs in the bunch too. Its a principle of metal fatigue, you may also want to make sure you didnt suffer any frame damage at the spring mounting points.

And I would never go with the "cheap" springs if you want any type of quality that you can depend on. Especially if your hauling a box of rocks...

Honestly, when we put the first scoop the truck didn't sat as low as you would think, that when we dumped the other scoop and the it sat on its axle.

Thanks for your reply

Don't feel bad bud, I just noticed that one of my right rear leafs is broken, I usually carry a 600 pound quad, i think they should take the weight better. My 03 1500 quad cab 4x4 is going in this week to have the broken leaf fixed and I'm also adding a extra leaf, it should help with the extra weight

My step-dad has these and they're great for almost everything. He does a lot of stock trailer puling with cattle and they help out tremendously.

Mine arn't Broke yet but start to sag with just 4 little bags of cement loaded in her (220lbs).

A couple of choices for new ones are Eaton or Stengal Bros, different Brands, Different part Nos. approx $250 ea US plus ship or avail at local spring shop ($800 a set here in Alberta) Heavy-Duty 4/1 or stock 3/1 or you can shop at the recyclers 02 to 06 with low miles I was quoted $350 for both sides from an 06 and another $60 for Bushings if you feel the need for red poly (Moe's) 2WD and 4WD use the same.

Im curious on how you guys "break" the leaf springs? I mean, are they physically broken? Flat or bent out of shape? Anyone got any pics?
