How long tires last on Ram 4x4 1500

I agree with you Steve on the Goodyear, but I've also NEVER had good luck on BFG truck tires either.
I'm sold on Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepeks and have been for years. I had a set of Mickey MTXs on my 2nd Gen for 68k and they still had good tread when I traded the truck in. My current Cepek FCIIs have been on the truck since '05, have over 40k on them and easily have 80% original tread on 'em. And I'm traditionally very hard on tires...

^Hows the noise level on the M/Ts and the Cepeks?

The MTXs (discontinued and replaced with the ATZ), were pretty quiet. The FCIIs are actually a hybrid between a true all-terrain and a true mud-terrain and on a noise level fall right in there. Louder than most AT tires and quieter than most MT tires. Those big blocks on the inner and outer part of the tire can slap pavement pretty good. I've learned a trick with them though and run 'em toward the high side of max PSI on road which pretty much keeps the center or AT part of the tread on the street then I air 'em down about 10 PSI or so for hunting/fishing and other off road use which puts the big blocks and side biters more in play.
You can see that the center treads look very All-Terrain'ish while the inner/outer blocks and side biters more resemble Mud Terrain tires...

I have BF Goodrich longtrails on my 05 have about 30k on them and they need replaced. I am hard on tires and pull a camper thats about 6000lbs 2 times a month to go camping.
not very wild about them but wasn't bad for the $80 price tag per tire
