Yeah, I only remember seeing "Class IV" on the window stickers with the tow prep pac back then ..

My truck has no 2" receiver though ( no tow package) , just the stock cross-member ...

I'm leaning towards this one.. they claim the cross bar is hidden..

I think the V6 and 4.7L had standard Class III hitch... with optional Class IV with the "tow/haul package" or w/e they called it.

Yes, Tow/Haul package gave you Class IV, 4 & 7 pin wire harness, heavy duty engine cooling, aux. tranny cooler and towing mirrors if my memory serves me correctly...

I don't think the V6 could be optioned with a hitch, period. The 4.7 was allowed a Class IV hitch though.

Aux cooler was bigger than the regular one, all autos had coolers after the 46RE days. And towing mirrors were optional. I see tons and tons of Rams with the tow package without mirrors. I think they were standard on the Heavy Rams though.

From the Options Page:

Trailer Tow Group - $335
Trailer towing preparation includes: trailer hitch; 7 Lead Wiring Connector; Heavy duty engine cooling system; Includes: [BCQ] Battery - 750 AMP, Maintenance Free (Fleet); Requires: [EKG] Magnum 3.7L V6 Engine; Excludes: [NMC] Engine Cooling - Heavy Duty

You could add the towing package to the V6 but I think it was only a Class III because of the MUCH lower tow capacity of the V6... doesn't really apply much to this thread though.....
