Default Sudden jerk to the right

Hello, I have an 03 ram 2500 5.7 Hemi. Just the other day while driving along the steering wheel made a sudden jerk to the right but it was only for a split second and it does it every couple of minutes like something is locking up, I'm thinking maybe the caliper is acting up or maybe the ABS module. I dont have any lights on the dash. I hope someone can help as its pretty nerve racking to be driving and wonder when its going to do it again. Thanks

My guess is wheel bearing. It will bind up and release with a bang or a sharp pull.

Wheel Bearing is the first thing to check, the next would be the tie rods and tie rod ends....

If all of that checks out then I'd start looking into the brake system.

how can you check if its a wheel bearing? do you just spin the tires until one of them binds up?

jack each side up so the tire is completely off the ground and pull the top back and forth and if the wheel moves at all you have a bad wheel bearing....

Check youtube there are some how-to videos that will show you how to check for it.

I'm not thinking its wheel bearings because the other day when i was coming to a stop the brakes acted like the abs was activating, so thats why I think its brake related.

That most commonly happens when one or more of the following is present:

  • Worn Brake Pads
  • Glazed Brake Pads
  • Glazed Brake Rotor(s)
  • Warped Brake Rotor(s)
  • Damage to Caliper Piston(s)
  • Brake Rotor is worn down beyond lower thickness limit

Only way to know for sure is to get in there and look at the pads and rotors.
