Noisy Pinion Bearing
Followup on repair:
The Motives were 3.90, so I elected to go with a 3.92 Nitro gear from another part supplier because I do use the 4x4 quite often. Turns out the LSD was damaged by the bearing coming apart too. I ended up replacing the LSD with another Spicer Trac-Loc. Much of what I read on the forums was people saying the great difference they experienced when replacing the Trac-Loc with an aftermarket brand. Well I am finding out the same thing with putting in a new OEM style after 108K miles on the old one. LSD locks up much more often when accelerating and turning from a stop. I would be curious to hear about anyone's experience on how an aftermarket LSD performs after 100K miles relative to brand new. All in all about $700 in parts and a $600 in labor from a local shop.
