Default Chassis Parts Info Thread (Ball joints, UCAs, Tie Rods, Moog, Raybestos, pics etc)

Hey all thought since there is so much chatter about chassis parts, brands, country of origin, quality, is what you received what you ordered, etc...

I thought it would be nice to start an information thread on chassis parts. Im thinking anything from pics, quality reports, issues, etc. Hope it lights a fire!

Anyway to kick it off...just received these ordered from Amazon.

Raybestos Professional Sway Bar End Links:

-Quality looks good, instructions clearly state the end links are greased from the factory and dont need any right away, actually came with instructions (LOL), hardware also looks good, can use a wrench on both ends to prevent spinning when tightening -nice .
-"Assembled in USA"
-No country of origin stamp on actual part

Raybestos Professional Sway Bar Bushing 36mm:

-Material appears to be rubber based but harder than the factory rubber parts
-I wont be greasing these when installing (though I do have a tube of Super Lube silicone non-petroleum based grease just in case)
-Made in USA

I have an unused Mevotech LCA with balljoint (pressed in from factory) and a Mevotech inner tie rod that I didnt install, pics after sleep.

Taken from this thread, all credit goes to teknomedic

Raybestos Professional Inner Tie Rods:

-He received three tie rods with the same p/n but ALL 3 LOOKED DIFFERENT!!!
-He ordered them from two different vendors, one on left from Rockauto the two on the right from another vendor.

I'll add some more pics later as well as maybe edit the thread or start a new one to be more about the work done so far vs "best brand".

Thumbs up Good thread

I'm really glad this thread has come up. My Ram has been uber-reliable and as he's getting close to 100K needs some attention. I have recently installed new motor & trans Mounts........what a job.....

I have new bilsteins wating to go in right now and more to do

These were a tough install.......dropping the axle was rough due to a lack of clearance around the pumpkin.

Cool, thx for the contribution. What brand were they? Are you happy with the quality of the part?

Happy to contribute....just wish i could post more pics!

Because the motor mounts also attach the front axle I didn't want to mess around, I got the factory mounts shipped from detroit. It took about a month, but I was really happy with the protective paint and fit/finish. These parts have machined surfaces that must be perfect to fit in between the motor/frame/axle so I didn't want to cheap out..... but i will elsewhere

drive line and axle u-joints, Federal-Mogul (precision brand) greasable and stand up to the test, can't give you the numbers since I installed them years ago, but look on rock auto.

^thx for the input!

Mevotech Supreme Inner Tie Rod:

-No Zerk for lube
-Made in China

Mevotech Supreme Lower Control Arm with Lower Ball Joint:

-Zerk was pre-installed...whats up with that angle? No way you could lube that the spindle and hub are in the way!
-Lower balljoint is already pressed in when you receive this piece
-The problem with this boot design is it does not articulate well to the range of motion of the joint itself...when you see it installed, one side of the boot crushes at static ride height and, over time this leads to a poor seal and premature boot wear.
-I have experience installing two Mevotech ball joints, on those the boot was very loose around the base of the BJ...on this one it seems like its more secure
-Includes new LCA bushings
-Not sure what material the LCA is or its corrosion resistance properties as I havent run on this one...I would much sooner refresh the OEM unit than take the risk with this.
-The advantage of buying a whole LCA is the bushings and BJ are already installed, making it a bolt on affair (plus align of course)
-Made in Chiiiina

I found Mevotech CV axles were terrible too. My 1.6 litre VW diesel with 500,000 km on it would eat them for breakfast. I had to walk away from the free warranty replacements and buy something else.
