How is the Hemi Reliability? Seen lots of scary stories...

That day she stops she gets replaced by a 6.4 or 426
Possibly an 8.3 V10, but who knows Remember, I'm only at 75k miles and am meticulous with preventative maintenance

for all the Dodge faults with my truck, I never had a issue or complaint with my heni.
would I buy one used off a lot, no, would I buy one from a private seller with proof-of-maintance, yes.
use of regular flue kills these engines and the heni mystic leeds some to abuse them.
ford, Chevy, and the Japanese all have issues, none are bullet proff.
hemi engines of today's caliber are not high reving engines, when pushed, valve springs can fail, if your bouncing off the Rev limiter.
16 spark plugs are a teething pain, so are the copper plugs I know longer use.
2003.to now, I can't count how many are on the road in Chrysler, jeep, and dodge products, hemis out last ford's 5.4 and 4.6.
ford's new truck engines were brought on to compete with the hemis,I

Good to know I feel much better about it.
So I've chalked up the issues to shielding the air cleaner from rain & moisture run off (to prevent hydrolock) and possibly some valve spring replacing before its too late. That said I didn't hear any other problems.
I work on cars all the time so doing a little preventative maintenance doesn't bother me at all.
I will be making a 270 mile trip (one way) to go pick up my Hemi tomorrow

My rod bearing went out on my 2500 with 142,000. I bought this truck used with 125,000 miles on it so I think it was not maintained very well. The bed was certainly used a lot. I would recommend driving several with HEMI engines and make sure to rev the engine to around 4000 RPMs. You can do this in 2nd gear and listen for any kind of knocking. Not sure how to test out the transmission except comparison driving similiar models.
