Towing Enclosed Trailer
Guys I am an electrician by trade and we just purchased a new twin axle 16' enclosed trailer. Even mostly empty it feels like it is taxing my truck to pull it. The read end is squatting quite a bit and have trouble with interstate speeds. Here are the details and I will try to get some pics with it hitched up:
2007 4.7 3.55 gears 2wd extended cab with a shell on the back
Maybe 2300 lbs in the bed
Trailer
16' V Nose enclosed trailer similar to these:

My suspension is bone stock and in fact I still need to add a brake controller. I just don't want to sink a ton of money into upgrades like exhaust, chip, intake, springs or bags, and such just to find out it still is marginal.
Thoughts?

If the dealership does the gears, most likely would maintain warranty, but expensive.
The gears would do you the most, including saving MPG (HUGE), plus make the life for your tranny a lot longer. Best thing to do would be to ask. Actually there is a dodge rep on here than has been extremely honorable, you might pose the question to her, or you might get lucky and she will see this.

The gears allow the engine to make better use of the torque it has, in stead of struggling trying move those smaller gears.

The taller gear, 4.11 gives your engine more leverage over the load. The trade-off is higher rpm. In other words, if you run with "0" zero load, the 3.55's would work great, but because you are using the truck with near max load conditions giving the engine more leverage will help your fuel economy considerably. Essentially, the savings in fuel will pay for the gears easily. more strain, or higher resistance requires more fuel to push.
