Changing out the springs was the most time consuming part of the swap when I did it, might as well throw a new cam in and make the spring swap into a chance for a performance mod.

Default Push Rods

While I'm in there, I've seen a few people post that you can also use the 6.1L push rods with the stock 5.7 cam. Has anyone actually made the swap and if so any issues?

5.7 cam is a different base circle than 6.1 cam, so the rods would be the wrong length if you used the 6.1 with the 5.7 cam.

Thx, I read there was a .050 difference, that's why I was curios if anyone else had done it.

There have been those who have had the hemi tick eliminated by going to a 6.1 base circle cam in conjunction with the 6.1 rods (it worked for me) but i haven't heard of going to just the rods while still using a stock base circle cam.

JCSlim. Was it you who pm'd me about this?
Sorry I never got back to you. I was on vacation and wifi was limited.
I was going to do this with my valve spring change over but was also advised not to, due to the 5.7 base circle being different from the 6.1's.

Yup that was me. No problem, sent a PM to a few people who were looking into it. I guess I'll just stick with the stock rods for now. Thx!

Been needing to do this for a while (I'm at 175k) but I need a compressor. How much pressure does the compressor need to float the valve? Thinking of getting a cheap one from harbor freight if it can handle it.

Unfortunately, it takes a special compressor.
