P1757 Trans code, severely reduced power
Hey all, thanks for taking the time to help me out. Specs: 2003 Ram 1500, 5.9L 4x4, off road package w/skid plates, 35 inch tires on 17's
First, a little background. I took my truck trail mudding today, and there were several deep ruts along the way (between 12-18 inches). about and hour and a half in, I noticed the check engine light had come on, and I was getting pretty poor power response when i stepped on the gas. On the drive home, it took around 2200 RPM to accelerate to 25 mph, and it's its idling 300 RPM high (around 1100). In addition, I can shift into reverse, or at least it feels like it, but it wont move when I step on the pedal. All other gears are fine.
The transmission is throwing a P1757 code (governor low pressure malfunction), and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues, or advice on what to look for before I take her into a shop? I knew the risks when I took her out today, but it's still frustrating haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Power response is back to normal, but the truck still wont move when it's in reverse. The trail was pretty wet with a couple of creeks, so I'm thinking maybe a sensor or air filter got wet and it just needed time to dry out? That still doesn't explain the transmission issue or the code however. Any suggestions?

Well my guess is that either you clogged the valve body for the transmission but it could be worse. I would take it to a transmission shop. Hopefully you did not destroy a clutch in the transmission because then it is either a transmission replacement or rebuild.
Yeah, the valve body was one of the problems listed along with the code, I'm hoping that's it as well. I think Ill take her in and see what I can find out. Thanks for the info, Ill update after I talk to the shop.
Update: I took her into a local AAMCO yesterday, and they recommended replacing the Fluid Pressure Sensor/switch, the Transmission Position Sensor (I think the actual part is called a range sensor), and the Governor Pressure Solenoid. Everything is within the transmission itself. On the drive home, the check engine light went out, and the truck is accelerating and shifting normally again. I don't believe the shop cleared the codes, and if so, should I take it to another shop for a second opinion? I don't want to spend ~800 bucks for a repair that really isn't necessary, but I also don't want to neglect a possible issue that could cause catastrophic transmission failure later down the road.
Oddly enough, the mechanic said that during his test drive the reverse worked fine, and when I drove it afterwards there were no issues either. This leads me to believe that it may be an issue with the shifter linkage at the transmission, because I have had a slight issue in the past with the truck not starting while it is in park, and I sometimes had to shift it to neutral to get the neutral-safety switch to disengage. I think that maybe the jostling from the trails might have messed with that linkage somewhat, although I'm not sure. Any ideas?
