Default Courtesy & Dome Lights Problem

2006 Ram 3500:
After opening a door, the courtesy and dome lights don't stay on for more than about 8 seconds. When closing this same door, they come back on for a few more seconds and then turn off without the fade.
Motor is off and this just started happening ... please help.

I had the exact same problem a couple of months ago on my 2006 Mega Cab. I disconnected the battery for 5min then reconnected. Everything worked as it should after that. I don't want to scare you, but this has something to do with your TIPM. This controls all your electrical features. I lost my turn signals about a month after the dome light issue, and it turned out my TIPM was fried. It cost me $800 to replace. Again, I hope that isn't the case with you, but I believe the dome light gremlin was a precursor to the failure of the TIPM.

Default Courtesy & Dome Lights Problem - Solved.

Thank you 66three83.

I also found out that this is a well known problem an 2006 RAMS (see Flash below).

I disconnected both batteries (negative posts) solving my courtesy & dome lights problem. Havn't tested the "Overhead console not accurate (-40 degrees)" problem which I am also intermittingly having. I ended up loosing some radio settings but navigation was unaltered.

Flash: TSP 08-026-06 - Overhead Console Temperature Reading Inaccurate Or Dome Lamp Turns Off Too Soon
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Cabin Compartment Node (CCN) with new software.
MODELS:
2006 (DR/DH/D1) Ram Truck
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before May 30, 2006 (MDH 0530XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may notice that if a vehicle door is left open for longer than 20 seconds the illuminated interior (dome) lamps will turn off.
The vehicle operator may describe that the ambient temperature first displayed in the overhead console is not accurate (displays -40°C or -40°F), when the ignition switch is turned to the “On” position, then slowly updates to the outside ambient temperature as the vehicle is driven.
