Default comp cams 260 will not idle

so I just installed my rebuilt hemi into my 04 ram . it started perfect and ran great for about 5 min, then stopped running. now the thing will only start and run when i'm keeping pressure on the gas. it will not idle on its own.
I installed all things needed for cam(6.1 springs & pushrods, etc) and im running it on superchips 91 tune.
is there people out there that have issues running this cam with superchips?
is there anything I can do with superchips to get this thing to idle?
cause it looks like im going to have to custom tune or something.
any ideas would help, thx

It 100% will run on a canned superchips tune. Have you checked for other issues like a push rod out of place?

Agreed, I vote either push rod not in place or a broken valve spring

I am pretty sure when you do a cam swap a custom tune is needed or it will not hold idle. I dont believe superchips takes custom tunes so I would look into diablosport tuners and get a used one or even just a diablo predator from summit racing or something for around $250 maybe. Then go to hemi-fever and get a custom tune and you will be even more happier with the tune. I am going to him when I do my cam sway along with the other million mods I want to do as well

That is dependent on the cam. In this case he is running a very mild cam that is proven to idle and run on a canned superchips tune. If it won't idle there is a problem somewhere besides the tune.

Correct. A 6.1, Franks Sidewinder and Comp 260 will run without a custom tune becausethe LSA is 114+

Any cam @ 113 LSA or less will need custom tuning

I think the very first thing I would be doing is checking the crank to camshaft timing. This ensures nothing gets bent or broken, then start checking the top of the heads for broken springs and popped pushrods and such.

I'm curious-----if once the engine is running, even with the throttle feathered, does it run smooth, can it be idled down to nearly the stock 750 rpm +/-?

How's the oil pressure, are the lifters pumping up? Was the engine checked for coil binding during the build?

Thanks Weed

I'm probably mistaken on the OEM number, but the point being, can the truck be run down to a low idle point without dropping out, with the throttle feathered.

well did some investigation, popped off the valve covers and all pushrods and springs were still tight and in place. put everything back together and had someone keep it idling and used laser thermometer on the headers, and nothing on #8 cyl. sho first thing I checkd was coil pak. swapped with one I knew worked worked from#6 and still nothing on #8. No spark at all so something in the wiring must of got damaged during the motor swap. I looked threw the wiring and harnesses and cant seem to find no breaks or anything wrong with them. even di-electric greased every connecting harness. I hate electrical issues, I think I will just take it to get fully scanned, they will find the issue a lot quicker than I will.
