I have an 06 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn edition. the airbag light likes to come on and shut off every once in awhile. any suggestions? Or is it something I'm just going to have to deal with

I won't be much help, but I have a 2003 2500 truck and my airbag light comes on and off once in a while. It tends to do it when i first start driving the truck, and eventually goes away all together. It has me baffled as well.

Had the same thing happen in my cvpi talked to Ford they said not to worry about it.well in July a suspect decided to ram me head on while running from my partner and guess what no air bag deployment. Makes me think when the light was going on and off at will that either there was a problem with either the air bag, sensor, or some where in between. Just take that for what its worth may or may not be something wrong with it

When the air bag light comes on the entire system is 100% disabled because there is a malfunction somewhere.

The air bag codes cannot be read by a standard code scanner you need a DRB-III Scanner and that will allow you to see which part of the system has failed.

The dealer can do this for you, and I suggest you let them do it as they can easily locate the problem.

Newer Air bag systems generally have sensors between each connection point and require feedback from both points, which means if a wire breaks between two connection points the air bag module will issue a code showing failures of the first connection in line and all of the "downstream" components, which allows for quick and easy troubleshooting.

Good Luck...
