Default 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 won't move

I came to a set of lights. I pushed on the gas and felt a clunk and it felt like the truck had lost some power. The clunk felt like it jumped into neutral for a second then popped back in to gear. I drove about 20 meters and pulled into a parking lot where it clunked a few more times. I then reved it in drive at 2000 rpm where it jumped forward about 2 feet, then wouldn't move anymore. I checked the trans fluid and it seemed a bit grey. I got it towed on a flatbed to a mechanic shop and when i put it into neutral with the steering wheel shifter it did not want to come off the bed. I then jammed it into neutral with the 4x4 shifter on the floor and it rolled of the bed nicely. Any suggestions on where I should start?

Thank You
Brian

Sounds like you have some nasty transmission issues. Trans fluid should always have a nice red color to it. How many miles on the truck? Was the trans fluid ever changed?

No codes? I find that hard to believe. You should have at least 0700, then maybe 7034, etc.
