2004 1500 5.7L Off-Road edition 4X4
I know this horse has been beat as I have looked for a week or so now for threads on this issue. However, I have a 2004 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi, Off road edition 4x4. I need (want) to raise the front end up about 2.25" to level it with the back. I have seen torsion replacement torsion keys, springs caps, and people saying "just crank the torsion bars up and go". I purchased this truck used about 3 months ago, with 69k miles and no issues that I have found (yet). My question is, on the off editions, is there another/better way of doing this? Also, what shocks for the front and back are you guys going with? I'm new here so if I post something wrong just let me know.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
Your "off road edition" is just a meaningless package to jack up the price unfortunately but fortunately since it's just a normal 4x4 you can do whatever the other pre-06 guys are doing to lift. I suggest the free torsion crank and probably some Bilstein shocks
There are several Lift threads in the FAQ section

I have been looking at the rancho quick lift struts for the front. What is the difference in the 06 and 04 ram 1500's? I havent found an exact part number for my 04 but I have not found anything that said that they wont work on the 04. Any thoughts?
As for the rear, I was looking at the RS9000XL Series Shock.
Part number for the 04 is RS999198. I do tow a 8-9000 pound enclosed trailer 3-6 times a year, and also planned on getting some air assist air bags, just not yet. Shocks first.
Thanks again guys for the feed back.

I have an 02 4x4 which has the torsion bar front suspension just like you. Dont waste money on torsion keys, just crank the bars. Make sure you turn each bolt the same number of turns, or you can vary it a little from side to side to make sure its level. Since your doing shocks at the same time try to get shocks that are a couple inches longer to accommodate for the lift. However, I have the standard length monroe sensa-tracs on mine with it cranked up about 3 inches and so far all is well. Be careful with rear shocks, my truck had the monroe spring assist rear shocks when I got it to help with towing, they made the rear of the truck really unstable with no weight in it.
