Default 4.56 instal / parts needed for 05 4x4 ram 1500

signature has my mods... I know there is 15234124 threads on this. but most of them are Which gears to run... what I need to know is if I got all the proper parts lined up to order once im ready....

So I was looking at 3rd stroke performance's complete kit. see link

http://3rdstrikeperformance.com/inde...oducts_id=5069

further reading about this mod I found out that 4.56 gears dont clear 100% and you need this pin?
http://completeoffroad.com/i-362013-...-chrysler.html

what mixes me up is certain years had certain dif's and parts needed to do this install...

knowing I have a 2005 ram 1500 4x4 with more then likely 3.55 gears Will I need that notched pin? is that kit from 3rd strike everything I need? or is there other stuff I am not thinking of?

Thanks!
Jesse

thats a lot of money for just ring and pinion. but your gunna need bearings/races, crush sleeve, pinion/axle seals, mabye axel bearings, diff gasket, posi lube/gear oil, pinion shims, ring gear bolts, pinion bolt and washer. lock tight and grease for setting up your tooth pattern.
get a couple of crush sleeves in case you mess up, they are cheap.
not sure about the notched pin..

The link I provided shows a list of whats included in the "kit"

"This is the kit for all you 4x4 owners who want to get the gears and install kit all in one package. It includes Motive Gears C9.25 Rear gears, C8.00 Front gears, and a master install kit for the front axle and rear axle. Motive Master Bearing Installation Kits include the following: Pinion and Carrier Bearings, Pinion Seal, Pinion and Carrier Shims, Pinion Nut, Ring Gear Bolts, Crush Sleeve, Gasket, Gear Marking Compound, Loctite, and Brush."

whats tough to know is if all the main stuff aside is there anything that needs to be done / bought

It is for a quick install.. I damaged parts of my Diff when the driver side axle retainer clip took a dump in the dif.

Anyways other then the issue I have.. the master install kit is idealy what all you need

havent done anything yet. I just confirmed through reading up a **** TON of threads on the install.

A lot of people have been successful doing the mod themselves.. the ones that did took their time and did their research.

I plan on doing the install / front dif rebuild with my old man (mech) and my neighbor which has done a few sets of gears on mostly race cars but he's there to get the shimming and alignements right. for the mostp art

right on, so basically if i got this kit i could take my truck somewhere to have it installed and they would have all the parts they need? i dont know if i would risk trying to do it myself, i have no experience with it at all, iv been reading up on it but if i came into a problem i might be screwed, my uncle owns a garage i might see i he would be interested in doing it, im up in canada so im trying to find kit in canada so it doesnt cost me a fortune for shipping

I am in Canada as well... havent found much up here for us not even to many shops I know of that do this type of work.

yea Def dont do it if you dont got the support. I just mentioned that cause A LOT of people say go spend the 1K + in labor to get it done when in all reality its do able with some time and patience and support from someone that has an idea of what their doing... all the specs and instructions are there... just got to read through A LOT of crap to find it

Might be a little cheaper for you in the long run to simply replace the diff with an aftermarket....Detroit Truetrac (aka Detroit Lockers) are pretty popular... and there are a million other brands out there that would work for you too...

Then all you'll need is the new gearset for the front diff... and you'll be able to directly swap out the whole rear differential.... would save you a whole lot of $ in Labor.
