I still have pan off but was going to put it back and refill today.

Anything I can inspect by removing plate before re-filling and taking to shop.

I jumped in and removed trans plate. I tested shift solenoid at 2 wire connector (part of solenoid pack) and Ohms showed full continuity.
The multiwire connector on the pack itself had Ohms at almost all connectors except 4 or 5.
Waiting for gasket to set & rain to stop to tighten pan bolts rest of way and see if I can get it in gear to drop at Trans shop tomorrow.
Thanks for everyone's feedback, I'll post when I know final diagnosis.

Trans was on bench yesterday, pump was locked up and gears worn. Here is work to be done:

Transmission overhaul will include overhaul kit, fluid, both filters, steel plates, bonded piston, torque converter, pump, solenoid block. $2,500. 24 month/24k mi warranty.

Shop has great reviews and best pricing/warranty I could find in Cypress/Houston area.
