Default Clunking sound in front end when I corner hard

Since Ive owned the truck in the front end it got both new hub bearings, both tie rods, both lower ball joints, uppers are still solid, cv shafts and intermediate shafts. When I take a corner hard or start drifting on snow I get a loud clunking type sound from the front end. I can kinda feel it on the floorboard. Im thinking it is the sway bar links or bushings, can anybody confirm this? Has anybody else had a similar problem?

definitely sounds like an endlink... but clunking can be damn near anything up there...

Do you still hear the clunking in 4wd? or only in 2wd? or is same in both? (same in both might eliminate some drivetrain issues)

Same sound in 2wd or 4wd, speed doesnt matter. The only thing that I can relate the sound to is body roll, its been happening for over a year but it doesnt happen every single time.

and you're 100% positive it's from the front end...? I'd check the bushings and endlinks... then I'd start to look for the oddball stuff....

Im pretty sure its the front end from how I can feel it in the floorboard, but Im open to suggestions. When I get a chance to work on it I think im going to remove both sway bar links and move the sway bar by hand to see if I can duplicate the sound. What do you mean by oddball stuff?

oddball stuff would be things like checking if the bed is moving or if one of the bed mounting bushings is worn or something, or engine/trans mounts.... you know the stuff that isn't common...

might be best for you to recreate the sound while someone can watch from the outside...

You shouldn't need to take the endlinks off to check the sway bar... if you load one side of the truck up (for instance putting one corner on a ramp) you should be able to see if the bar is moving...

Just curious... did you happen to maybe have your brakes serviced right before this started happening?

I did a fair amount of offroading this summer, at the sand dunes the whole truck gets put through its paces. With all the bumps and bouncing around there I never heard the same sound, unless I was drifting around a corner, which really pushes me into thinking its from the sway bar. I will check the engine, trans, body, and bed mounts when I work on it next. Hopefully Ill get to it next week after finals.

The brakes have been messed with a few times but it was never because of the sound and never had an effect on it. Just curious though, how could it be related?

If one of the caliper bolts backed out or snapped the caliper might move or bounce... I've seen that happen before... again not common but I've seen it happen.

Good luck and post the results when you find it! good luck with finals!

I'll take a look at all that and see what I come up with. Thanks for the tips!
