Get guys. I have a ticking sound coming from my truck sounds like it's in the area of the ac compressor. Is it a common problem on them? It has 120000 miles. Hoping that's all it is

Does it make any difference if you turn of the AC?
Is it a loud ticking or more like a relay kind of ticking (Thinking of the sound from the injectors)

My AC compressor is actually knocking. It's probably not long for life. Aside from that, the engine does have a tick. I'm led to believe it's either the timing chain tensioner or a wrist pin out of tolerance. Either way, It's been 16,000 miles and I haven't had a single issue since I bought the truck.

Worn timing chain guides or tensioner is clogged, chains are stretched, try removing valve cover and check the play on chains.

Water pump is about to go out. I had a noise and someone said it was a pulley, I didn't know what it was, and the first cold day my truck started making a crazy loud squeezing noise and then the ticking noise quit altogether. I then drove to the bank amd my truck started overheating. The impeller on my waterpump had cracked and was not turning with the shaft. So if I was you I would take off the water pump and check the impeller ( round plastic thing that tuns the water)

Also when I turned the ac compressor on the noise would get worse, I that's the case for you, it's most certainly the wAterpump.
