look at used 04 1500 5.7 need advice
Your original post listed some things to be concerned about. Not out of the ordinary by any means. I see you have walked away from the deal, probably not a bad idea. One of the replies to your power question said that the Hemi should smoke the tires from a stop. First off, the Hemi develops most of it's power between 2,400 and 4,000 RPM as all Hemi's have since they were introduced in the 50's. I know these Hemi's bear little resemblance to their ancient cousins, but that fact has remained the same. They are not overly exiting off the line, unless you have a manual, and can dump the clutch at 3,000 RPM. I have never been able to "smoke the tires" off the line, unless it's a stop at the bottom of a hill, and I am pointed up, AND, it's very cold, AND, the road has salt dust on it in winter. That is not to say that the truck lacks power. You mash the pedal at 45mph or so, and it will kick down a gear and push your head back. That is the Hemi's power range. There are owners out there who's Hemi powered trucks will smoke the tire(s), those would be the short bed, small cab models. For the record, mine is a Mega Cab, which, admittedly, is a very heavy model. 6,700 lbs heavy!! Whether or not a truck will light up the tire is a poor assessment of a vehicles worth. More importantly, does the engine start and run smooth, holding steady RPM's at idle. Any hesitation or stuttering on acceleration, Etc, etc. Trying to smoke tires on a test drive is not the best test!!!!
well the guy said he was towing 14 foot trailer with 2 axles with landscaping equipment 7 months out of the year for like 2 or 3 years I was worried about the tranny breaking too.glad I walked away from it.
