Default Check engine light keeps coming back for O2 Sensor

Hello everyone,

First post, brand new to the forum. Just bought my Dodge Ram Quad cab 1500 4x4 about a month ago with 68k miles on it. I'm getting a little frustrated with this incessant check engine light/ O2 sensor code. It's been replaced twice already and each time the same code (bank 2, sensor 2 on the passenger side) comes back as the cause of the CEL. Is it a matter of resetting the computer a few times? Do I need to run higher octane fuel with fuel system cleaner through it to see if that helps? I'd really like to avoid the stealership. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Exhaust leak and/or bad Cat will cause codes too. Sensors aren't always the fix.

I would try to clean your EGR valve. If it's clogged you can throw a code as well.

What is the exact code you are getting? There is more than one code possible for that sensor. knowing the exact code would help narrow down what the issue is that is causing the CEL.

As Dirty Dog mentioned, a crack in the exhaust manifold or pipe as well as broken or loose exhaust manifold bolts will allow fresh air to get sucked in and mixed with the exhaust gas causing issues also
