My sons 04 Dodge Ram 1500 suddenly started idling very rough and stalling. After checking out several sites I changed out the EGR valve. No different. Installed new alternator but no difference. I keep getting different answers but so far non check out as the problem. Any ideas.

Does it stall while driving like it doesn't want to stay idle? Sounds like the IAC (Idle Air control). I asked everyone on here and it seemed to be it. I know I'm new to the site but they can correct me if I'm wrong.

Welcome to DF. I will move this to the correct technical section so you can get some help. Don't know why you changed the alternator for a rough idle issue though.

No separate IAC on the 5.7L bud. All but the 5.7L. It's all integrated with the throttlebody on the 5.7L's because they are fly-by-wire and controlled by the pcm, so that would mean a new T/B.

Few things....
Spark plugs are only good for 30kmi...
Cracked/arcing plug wires cause this issue.
Bad gas causes this.
Verify the injectors are all good and not clogged.
Verify your air filter is good and not clogged.
Make sure your IAT(intake air temp) sensor in the elbow of the intake tube is good.

Can someone tell me if they think the MAP sensor could be causing this issue.

If its a hemi possible valve spring . Do a compression test.
