The Rams have roughly a 20% loss of HP through the drivetrain(highest loss in the industry. Likely due to the inefficient Torque Converter design)
So that would make your 235HP truck about 188rwhp

The 04-08 Hemi is rated 345HP at the crank and only puts 260-270ish at the rear wheels. Hence where the 20% number comes from.

I always thought 15% loss for a RWD and 20% for a 4WD/AWD was the norm. However, I was slightly shocked at what the 4.7 was actually putting down when I had my Durango. I had a 2001 Explorer XLT 5.0 AWD @ 210hp and 280ft lbs that was pretty gutless as well.

To get old school gross hp rating (no accessories, etc) like they did back in the day, you'd have to put one on an engine dyno.

Yea net and gross are some old school terms. The common terms these days are brake HP and Rear Wheel HP.

I think the BHP is around 240HP and the wheel HP was already addressed.

Yep brake HP is what the engine makes on an engine dyno which is 235 in the 4.7 and the rear wheel HP is what the wheels are actually putting to the ground which as said after drivetrain loss is about 190

Gross and Net HP are rather old terms. Go back a few decades and auto makers used to advertise the gross HP. That's because it was a very big deal in trucks in particular. Auto makers would rate engines with no water pump, no charging system, no power steering pump etc. Anything that took power to run was not present. This gave then the gross HP. The government cried foul because nobody could actually operate a vehicle and get gross HP. Today I don't know how you would actually look up gross HP and it would do little good if you could find it. Since you have to have circulating coolant, a charging system etc gross HP is somewhat of a useless number.
