Default Transmission problem?

Okay guys I have an 04 4x4 with the 5.7, for about 5 months now my truck sometime does not go right into reverse when I shift it. I will give it a little gas and once the RPMs get a little higher then it will start moving in reverse. Within the past month or two I've noticed my truck is shifting harder between 1st/2nd and almost feels like a transmission that is slipping a little.

I was wondering if you guys know what my problem could be? I did a little research and maybe its my Governor Pressure Sensor screen is clogged?

Would I just need to drop the pan and clean the screen off? Or should I replace the sensor/solenoid? I called the dealer and they don't sell them individually, only the whole "Shift Pack" which is $340

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Spencer

When was the fluid changed last? You can't clean the screen. It has filter media inside and cannot be cleaned. You would need to change it out completely.
I made a How-to-flush in the FAQ section. You can follow that and see if your trans shifts better after.
Also, there's a return filter which can cause slow engagement due to leaky drainback valve.
Here's the complete WIX kit:
http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200...ilter_kit.html

You'll need like 20qts of ATF+4 to do a complete flush. The system hold 17 I believe.

Here's the flush procedure:

And you had a 545rfe trans? I havent heard a lot of problems about the reverse piston so it's not exactly common.

It has been a while since my tranny fluid has been changed (around 50k miles), I was planning on changing it when I swap the filter and whatever part needed to get my transmission shifting right again

Can you purchase just the individual sensor or do I have to replace the entire shift pack?

Do you think that a filter and fluid change alone could be the solution? I would just hate to drop the pan and swap the filter and put new fluid and then have to pull the pan off again to swap a sensor or shift pack. It's pretty cold here and I don't have a garage to work in right now

Thanks,
Spencer

The TRS solenoid pack assembly is one unit. I had to replace mine this fall, it was fairly easy. In my case though, and in most that I've read you get an engine trouble code when that's the issue.
I would go with the complete DIY Transmission Flush that dirtydog did a write-up on before throwing money at that part.
How many miles on your truck?
