hi, i am swapping my 545rfe to another one, my 4th and 5th gear was burnt out due to a line failure.

the guy at the salvage yard said i need to have the ecm reprogrammed for the new transmission. is this true and how do i do this or get this done.

PCM* and no as long as it is from a similar year as yours you will be fine...

serial number and contact Dodge directly...

Or if there happens to be a VIN number stamped or stickered onto it....

 

You WILL need a quicklearn perfromed though, as your current PCM will have CVI values from your previous transmission. This will require a dealership style computer, so if you know someone with one or you will have to take it to a dealer.
