Under the hood fuse box
Is there a difference in fuse boxes between the 5.7 and the 4.7? I've got a 2004 Ram 1500 with the 4.7. what about model years? Is the 2005 the same as the 2004? I'm looking at buying a used one in case repairing mine doesn't work.
Thanks in advance..
Thanks in advance..
So, I pulled the old PDC (Fuse box) from under the hood of the truck with the intentions of repairing it. Once I started getting into the meat and potatoes of fixing it, I decided to lok up one from a scrap yard online. I used one called car-parts dot com. I found one for $50 and it came as an assembly (PDC/FCM). It was off a 2005 RAM 4 X 4 with the 4.7. Just like mine. Everything was the same, except some of the fuses were smaller amps than the 2004. I swapped the FCM units out as I had noticed they were different part numbers. Once I put it all back into the truck, she fired right up and the electrical problems were gone. I even took her out for a spin and got her a nice wash and filled her belly up with a full tank of gas. Everything seems to be running fine now. Thanks for all the help!
No need to reprogram anything when replacing just the PDC (fuse box).
I did mine on my Hemi about three years back.
Swapped it out for a brand new OEM and refitted the old fcm to it.
Half hour tops and all my running light problems gone.
As long as your second hand box isn't also corroded, you'll be fine.
FYI my new PDC came with a plastic funnel arrangement upgrade. It fits underneath and around the cables plugs and bottom of the PDC as a splash guard. A lot of the corrosion is from spray being kicked up from underneath, causing corrosion. I'd suggest retro fitting something yourself and anyone else who reads this, to help stop this happening.
