wind drum whumwhumwhum
Hi All
First Post
Well I'm in my 4th dodge. 1st was a dakoda.......... great truck, 2nd was a 94 ram ............... great truck, 3rd 01 ram ........... a piece of **** - it could change a full lane on the highway whenever it wanted, 4th 04 ram ............... nice truck so far - execpt for one thing & I would love some feed-back on this if anyone has a fix. You can't open a window without getting a drumming noise from the wind. I've tried all combimations for all 4 windows & still can't make it go away.

My last truck was a '97 Ram Sport std cab....great truck!
I too notice wind buffeting if I open the front windows though not so bad if all 4 are down. I haven't tried to open my rear window, maybe that makes the wind noise go away but its impossible to do while driving.

My '05 Quad cab does that with the back windows down and the front ones up. It's so bad it feels like my ear drums are going to explode.
I happened to read something about it in the owners manual (YES, for some reason I was looking at the owners manual!!), so Dodge knows it happens and is a problem. Their "fix" was to open/close the windows until the buffeting stops.
I too wonder if the vent visors help, or even a hood/bug shield. I don't have either on my truck yet, but a bug shield will be installed before next summer. As for the vent visors, I don't think I'll put them on - the cab pillars are already enough of a HUGE blindspot, I don't want an extra 2" of blindness from the vent visors.

Do you have the rear sliding window? If I lower all of mine about 1/2 wayit's not too bad until I get to freeway speed. If I open the backs alone, like someone else said, it feels like my eardrums are going to explode.
This is hardly unique to the Ram.
Since everything today tends to come with a/c and one is "supposed" to use it instead, why would the engineers and designers care what happens with the windows down? I'm sure if it weren't a safety issue the windows would not open at all, much like many "modern" buildings. Heck, they tell ya what to do about it in the Manual; what more could you possibly want from DC?[sm=lol.gif]
