Default Intermittent SERV 4WD light - Any Thoughts???

I have a 2008 Ram 1500 Laramie with 95K miles. I have been using the 4WD since early to mid December '13. A few days ago the SERV 4WD light has been coming on intermittently. The light/alarm comes on and clears immediately. Sometimes it comes on when I am at a standstill and some times when I am driving. I am pretty sure the 4WD is working. The light only seems to come on during the first 10-20 minutes of driving. I am planning to take it in but was just wondering if there was anything I could check before I do.

Any thoughts?

It doesn't seem like he's having the same issue as what is in that post...

It could be a cold weather related issue, or it might be time for a transmission fluid change along with the transmission filters...

I get the same thing (SERV 4WD) light comes on randomly, whether in 4wd or not, then goes off on its own. Never actually caused a problem with going in or out of 4wd so I just ignore it. If you figure it out I would be interested in the solution.

Check the sensor connection underneath the truck. Probably moisture in there. Clean and squirt some dielectric grease in there.

The shop checked out everything and found a short in the selector switch inside the cab. Switch is on order and should be installed later this week. I will let you know if this indeed fixes the problem.
