Default Curb Weight difference between 2500/3500

Hey, curious as to what adds the extra weight to a 2005 year 3500 compared to the 2500, both diesels and everything else the same. I know the 3500 has a extra spring but there is like a 800lb difference in curb weight. Even if it has different rotars and an extra spring I doubt it adds up to 800lbs. Im looking for a 5.9l diesel with low Kim's. hard to find though. I have found a 2005 3500 with 80,000 km. if there is not much difference I might as well just get the 3500. Also I won't be doing any real heavy hauling. Thanks

Heavier axles. If its a dually, extra tires. The chassis is beefed up.

Its not a dually. I have read a lot of forums and my understanding and from what i have read though is that they are both on the same frame, same front end. Just a beefed up rearend and extra springs. Curious what others think regarding affected fuel milage (empty), rougher ride. Also is it possible to remove the extra springs and basically be left with a 2500. I don't really need a 3500 all the time but seems like a great deal. Thanks for any extra info.

Where are you getting the curb weight on the two trucks?

When I look at the dodge site, I get about a 50lb difference between the 2500 and 3500 with same equipage. This assume same cab, 4x4, transmission, engine, and number of wheels.
